Your Discovery Day will normally take place near your business.

Ideally we’ll get away from the office itself; so you’re not distracted by the day-to-day clutter of operations, staff, etc. I need you focused all day working ON the business, not working IN it. Emails and phones will be switched off apart from breaks and lunch.

If you are based more than 100 miles from my home in Milton Keynes, I may ask that we meet halfway.

Normally I suggest you hire a small meeting room in a suitable hotel. We’ll need a screen and projector, flip chart and a flow of hot coffee.

All the owners / directors of the business will need to be there. Because we’ll start by exploring what you want to achieve with your life, and your business, over the next 3 years.

As a business owner your life and business are intrinsically linked. So we’ll look at your vision for the best possible life for you and your family.

The personal income you need. The amount of free time you want away from your business. The holidays you want to take. The stuff you want to own.

We’ll explore what your short-term personal goals are. And then create (or review) your business goals that allow you to live the life you want to live.

Your goals will be SMART – an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound. Because SMART goals are more likely to be reached than wishy, washy vague goals.

Next we’ll look back a little. At key lessons learned over the previous 12 months. And we’ll do a full SWOT analysis – Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

This will give me full insight into your business when I’m prepping your Discovery Day. It will also get you thinking in the right direction, about what you want to achieve over the next 3 years.
